April 14, 2017

Under the program of the DOIT (Department of Industrial Technology) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs that is dedicated for smart handheld device technologies, Taiwan research institute III (Institute for Information Industry) announced that it has collaborated with China Steel Corporation, the Taiwan's largest steel provider, for a smart glasses-equipped industrial helmet, reported Economic Daily News on April 10. Integrated with sensors and the appearance of a professional industrial helmet, the smart glasses/helmet bundle operating on the Remote Master solution jointly developed by III and China Steel can help reduce the burden of workers so they can carry out maintenance work more efficiently. Leveraging III's "Dynamic Object Tracking and Visual Correction" technology, it is able to directly show real-time dynamic information, marking equipment on the need for maintenance. Not only can it greatly improve work efficiency and reduce 20% of maintenance costs, but also can it monitor the status of workers to ensure work safety, according to the same source.
